Nope, you can install them all before playing, link all campaigns to the same account and play them in the order you like. Although starting with Prophecies, then Factions, then Nightfall and then Eye of the North would make most sense storyline-wise.

The only one you will need to play AFTER one of the others is eye since you will need to have installed one of the other chapters (prophecies, factions or nightfall) first. (and you will need to be level 10 to access it from one of the chapters)
You can play any of the chapters in any order, though if you wish to take characters from one to the other you should make sure you put all of the key codes on one account!

Guild Wars is ONE game, which means you install it once. Then you download the areas when you enter them for the first time.
You should play through Prophesies first, then Factions, Nightfall and finally Eye of the North. Also, playing through War In Kryta is a good idea if you are interested in lore.

Remember all games are linked and that you can travel back and forth between them.

Chosing one character (your main) to do all the campaigns first is a good idea. After this you can make a new character in the other campaigns.

Good luck!

Each game has an individual storyline, so you can start where ever you like. Like Milennin said in the post above, the learning curve for the game is different for each campaign. If your a total newbie to the game, then Prophecies would be a good place to start. It's the longest storyline of all the games, and it's a good way to learn the basics. If you have some game experience, Nightfall would be a good place to begin, simply for the benefit of heroes.

The most important thing is to link the key codes of the campaigns to the same account, so you can access all of them with the same character. Then you can start playing any campaign (Prophecies being more friendly to newcomers - especially the presearing area).

When you reach level 10, you can access the Eye of the North expansion via quests given by Len Caldoron in Lion's Arch (for Prophecies), Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon in Kaineng Center (Factions) or Bendah in Kamadan (Nightfall).

Have fun!

nope great thing aobut guild wars is that each campign is its own seperate entity(tho you can switch inbetween them at a certain point in each of them. So i suggest doin Prophocies first then NF then factions then EoTN. Good way to learn how to play the game and control heros and all that. Also get a guild that will help you out. that will be a major advantage when your stuck on some of the higher/harder missions and you cant find a PUG.

If you want an easier play through Prophecies and Factions (which you might - entirely up to you) you can go to Eye of the North or Nightfall once you get to Lion's Arch (Proph) and get some initial heroes who are like henchmen, but with much more control and options.

BTW, you will want to get to Lion's Arch and Kamadan (NF) by Halloween ...

The word "must" doesn't apply. There is nothing you "must" do - unless there is a specific goal you haave in mind. Play anything you want whenever you want. (Except, as noted, you will need to start in one campaign before going to Eye of the North.)

If you have the "Complete Collection", it will be only one key code and one disk to install. If you actually have all separate camapaigns, install the latest one (Nightfall), make an account and add the keys from the other campaigns and EotN to that account. (There's no need to "install" every campaign.)

In every case, the best way to reduce load times (after installation) is to run the game (once) with the "-image" command to download all the latest content. (Search on these forums for "-image" for details.)
